hiddur mitzvah – ketubot on display at the Columbus Museum of Art

So it’s probably time to check out the Columbus Museum of Art. Currently, thirty Jewish marriage contracts, dating back to 12th-century Egypt, are featured in “The Art of Matrimony” at the museum. The exhibition highlights the beauty of ketubah art throughout history and around the world.

The ketubah that is shown at the top of this posting dates back to1737 and is from Mantua, Italy. With its rich colors, floral embelishments, golden framework and intricately formatted text, this ketubah is still pretty dreamy.

If you see any historical designs that you want to use as inspiration for your own custom ketubah, well that would be a dream ketubah commission to work on for sure.
